June 12, 2019 (Pt. 1)

I’m back! Sorry for the silence for the past two weeks. I finished up volunteering and then met up with my family. It’s been a crazy week traveling with my family and we are having an amazing time! This first post will cover the last week of my volunteering and then I will write a post about the first week with my family. I can’t believe I only have NINE days left before I head home! It has gone by at an incredible speed. I can only hope that school goes by as fastπŸ˜‚.

My last few days with Dr. Klopper were awesome but I was sad to leave. On Thursday, we darted 3 buffalo bulls and 2 zebra females to be transported to a new farm. We gave them multivitamins, dewormer and a tick treatment. There were 6 of us there but we were all able to be there.

The rest of the volunteers spent the weekend in Kruger. I chose to stay behind and go to the farm with Klopper and his family since I needed to pack and I would be going to Kruger the next week with my family.

We spent Monday morning darting some sable. Unfortunately, we didn’t get many photos because we were super busy.

I left Louis Trichardt on Tuesday to meet up with my family. Before I left to go back to Johannesburg, we went to dart and move a kudu bull. It was the last animal I worked on as a volunteer during this trip.

I will forever be thankful for my time as a volunteer. I can’t believe the things I got to do and the people I met while I was there. Next post will be from my first week traveling with my family!
